Homemade Sugar Scrub
Self-care is more important than ever these days, so we partnered with @mamamia_ig to serve up an easy-to-make DIY Sugar Scrub recipe — just in time for Mother’s Day!
All you’ll need to get started are these four all-natural skin-loving ingredients:
- 1 cup pure cane sugar
- 1 cup brown raw sugar
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- Essential oils (optional)
Add the brown sugar and the white sugar to a large glass bowl or container, and combine.
Once the sugar is blended together, add the olive and coconut oils. We recommend using your hands to smash the mixed sugar with the oils. The consistency should be sandy, not soupy. If it’s too soupy, simply add more sugar.
Because sugar is as sticky as it is sweet, this would be an ideal time for a Wet Ones break!
As an optional ingredient, you can add some drops of essential oils. Essential oils are great for adding scent and healing properties to your scrub. A few drops are all you need, as essential oils are concentrated, and thus, extremely potent.
Transfer the mixture to a cute jar. If giving as a Mother’s Day gift, decorate the jar with fun labels and ribbons to make it extra special.
Use the sugar scrub twice a week to exfoliate dry skin. It can be stored in a glass jar to use within a month.
