Tips To Help Keep Your Family Healthy
With the season of summer camps, family vacations and back to school, keeping your family healthy can be as simple as knowing some basic facts and following some easy tips to help prevent the spread of germs.
About Germ Spread
Germs are spread from person-to-person through coughing, sneezing or touching something with germs on it and then touching the nose or mouth.
The best line of defense in preventing the spread of germs is frequent hand washing. When soap and water are not available, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or antibacterial hand wipe can be an effective alternative.
Protecting Your Family
There are some steps you can take to protect your family from the spread of germs:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and then throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Wash for 20 seconds. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers or antibacterial hand wipes are also effective when soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Avoid close contact with sick people.
